This Privacy Policy explains how Ardya Veda (“Ardya Veda”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles your information when you use the Ardya Veda mobile application and the website at ardyaveda.com (together, the “Service”). It is written to comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.

By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Health notice. Ardya Veda is an Ayurvedic lifestyle and wellness service. Guidance in the Service is educational and is not a substitute for professional medical diagnosis or treatment. Consultations with practitioners (“Vaidyas”) are for Ayurvedic wellness advice and do not create a doctor–patient relationship in place of your own physician. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data fiduciary responsible for your personal data is Akagai Ventures, operating as Ardya Veda, with its registered office at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. For any privacy question or request, contact us at ardyaveda@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

a. Information you give us

Account details — your name, email address, and, when you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier and profile basics. You may also add a phone number and profile information.
Health & wellness information — the answers you provide in your Prakriti (constitution) assessment, Vikriti and daily check-ins, gut and sleep questionnaires, and anything you choose to share with a Vaidya during a consultation, including your concerns and any prescriptions issued to you. This is sensitive personal data and we treat it accordingly.
Content you create — journal entries, community (Sangha) posts, saved plans, and messages.
Payment information — when you pay for a consultation, meal plan, or product, the payment is processed by our payment gateway (Razorpay). We do not store your full card or bank details; we retain a record of the transaction (amount, date, status, and a gateway reference) and your wallet balance.

b. Information collected automatically, with your permission

Camera & microphone — used only during video or audio consultations you start. We do not access them in the background.
Location — approximate or precise location, used to show nearby practitioners and clinics when you use that feature.
Motion & body sensors and app-usage data — used to estimate your sleep and activity for the Sleep Cycle and movement features. On Android this may include Usage Access, used solely to detect when the phone is put down and picked up for sleep estimation.
Device & technical data — device model, operating system, app version, IP address, a push-notification token, and diagnostic logs.
Usage & analytics — how you interact with the Service, collected through analytics and advertising tools including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to understand usage and improve the Service.

3. How we use your information

To provide the Service and the features you ask for.
To generate your personalized Ayurvedic guidance — Prakriti results, meal plans, Ritucharya routines, and sleep and movement insights.
To enable consultations with Vaidyas and deliver prescriptions.
To process payments, refunds, and maintain your wallet.
To send you notifications, reminders, and service messages.
To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
To improve the Service and understand how it is used.
To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. When we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the Service:

Vaidyas and clinics you choose to consult — they receive the information relevant to your consultation so they can advise you.
Service providers (data processors) who operate parts of the Service on our behalf under contract:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage;
- Google / Firebase — sign-in and push notifications;
- Razorpay — payment processing;
- Meta Platforms — analytics and advertising measurement.
Legal and safety — where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
Business transfer — if Ardya Veda is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

5. Where your data is processed

Some of our service providers process and store data on servers outside India. Where that happens, we take steps intended to keep your data protected to the standard described in this Policy and permitted by applicable law.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long afterwards as we need it to provide the Service, meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account (see below), we delete or anonymise your personal data except where we are required to retain certain records — for example, transaction records for statutory financial and tax purposes.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

access the personal data we hold about you;
correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
request erasure of your data and deletion of your account — see our Account & Data Deletion page;
withdraw a consent you previously gave;
nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity;
raise a grievance with us and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption of sign-in sessions on your device and access controls on our database. Authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.

9. Children

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the Service.
